thanks for doing this dana!

i know you try to remain agnostic with lights and favorites, but i'm trying to decide between using reefi duos or one of these on a 4 foot tank. obviously there's a price difference, but without factoring that in, what would you go with?

obviously both look capable of growing acros deep in a tank, but which has better shimmer, better made, better control, that sort of thing? Thank you again!

This is a great article. It def helps see the capability of these lights. I still think I need a par meter for my 120 so I can get a par map. But I'm far away from corals

Good information! I have been looking at this light as a possible replacement for my current lights.

When I see videos of these the sand bed looks like a discoball of colors, does it look that way in person or is that just something the camera is doing? Seems the same on orphik videos.

Dana, did you measure the spectral power distribution of the light with all channels driven? All I see is individual channels.

Very nice, thank you for doing this.

I like the spectral graphs showing the individual LEDs. Is there a reason that you do not include a spectral graph for the fixture as a whole with all the LEDs running?

I purchased the photon48 lights a few weeks ago for my 120g 4x2x2. The spread is adequate for 48 inches length side but not adequate for 24 inches front to back with wall to wall coral. Would be perfect for a 90 that is 48x18 if you mount them 10 inches or more off the water.

I am also disappointed with the spectrum though. Too purple for my tastes and generally the tank appears too dark like it's not enough light. Although the corals do look great, but the fish do not. The yellow and blue tangs colors just aren't as impressive and bright as they were under the Chinese LEDs I had before.
If course this could be partially because I don't have them run above 70/35 power wise so maybe will look brighter if I can get closer to 90/45 or 100/50

Read it on the computer. Excellent analysis. Love the flat intensity of this light. Single unit single power cord and sps par at 20” with the light mounted a foot over the tank, I’ll take it

There are charts on the Reefbreeder's website for designated outputs. I run the 12K program & have no color problems with yellow or purple. However mine hang a little lower than 12.5" over the water.
