Hi everyone,
I am using this thread to document my progress with my current tank in the hobby. I have been reef keeping for about 8 years now and have had many ups and downs. My most successful tank was a 72 gallon bow front which I had to take down due to a move. This was a full on mixed reef stocked to the gils. It was my first time moving from one household to another and I lost everything but two clownfish (my orignals) and their anemone. I ran a 90 gallon which was unsuccessful to my standards (not being able to keep sps and some Lps) and debated on quitting the hobby. I eventually had to move again and parted out my tank and most corals. I toughed out a move and decided to continue on with softies but this wasn't enough for me. A rimless 57 was fun for a bit and I loved the look! But the dimensions made for poor rock work and flow in the tank (at least with how much rock I stocked it with). It was a nice setup but eventually parted with it.
This leads to the current tank: a 95ish gallon rimless diamond edge aquarium made by a well known large aquarium builder in California. This tank is easily my favorite as far as dimensions thus far. 36x30x21
This allows me to have a very open look utilizing negative space, open water and creative aquascaping. I want to go full mixed reef with this tank with LPS, and SPS dominating. It seems that our local area is turning more towards zoas/palys which I really enjoy, but I must say that I love how SPS can look as well as nice colonies of chalices and acans. This tank will accommodate most/ if not all the corals I currently take care of.
This is it for now. I will post pics in a bit as well as major equipment.
