Got a potters angel that I’ve had for 5+ years suddenly has parts of his side fin torn off and lacerations on his side and also bottom of tail.

He sometimes tries to dominate the powdered blue tang. Wondering if this is the pbt getting him with his sturgeon?

Potters is about 3.5” and pbt is 2.5”

It’s a possibility the powder blue could be butting heads with the potters. Powders have a temperament where if any other take mate gets dibs on food or territory, the powder will go on the attack. That’s been my experience with powder blues. Outside of the challenges for holding the top position in the hierarchy, powder blues will relax but when challenged, the powder can be extremely destructive & leathal if it wishes to be.

Pics are extremely dark and need to be reposted under bright white light intensity for clear determination
Can be aggression, bacterial or other causes

Now that i'm home, I can see fish with image expanded and I see what looks like bite marks from aggression and fins also what looks to be bitten which questions what tank mates you have and have you noticed any harassing or chasing this angel?
As long as no further aggression, should heal on its own but keep an eye on fish, mainly fins. If fins deteriorate, add ruby Rally pro to the tank OR isolate and treat with Seachem Neoplex.
Very pretty fish, almost more blue than mine.

The powdered blue tang I think is the culprit. The PBT is going after my 4" regal angel as well.. They are doing a fin dance and pushing each oher with their bodies.. I assume that is what leads to the lacerations?

I just grabbed him off the tank and put him in a holding tank for now. Will rehome the PBT.

Aggression is tough to track down. If you posted a complete fish inventory we might hazard a guess, but the reality is you need to catch the culprit in the act.
Obviously, when you watch the fish, they stop fighting to watch you. You can try leaving your phone to video the tank. The other thing to understand is that a fish biting another might literally happen once a day or even less. Therefore you have to watch for other clues, like one fish stealing clear of another, one fish making a false rush or attack, things like that.

Only fish right now are Potters Angel (3.5"), Regal Angel (4"), Two clowns, Powdered Blue Tang (2.5"), and Purple tang (2").

The regal and and potter don't look at each other, ever lol.

The purple tang and the PBT were introduced last. Immediately upon introducing them to tank, the potters angel chased both tangs around for a day.. then that stopped.

I've seen the PBT do the body dance at the angels, and only see the purple run away when anyone chases him.

Potters seem to go for $900 captive and $600-$1000 wild. I would remove the aggressor immediately for beating up my cha-ching! $$

It does look like aggressor damage to me, sometimes the squabbling is early morning/late night when they all go to settle in the rocks.

YES! The PBT has be rehomed..

However, where do you get a wild potters for $600-1000? I thought it was closed.

My potters has been with me for around 7 years now... maybe he is gonna die soon of old age.
