My porcupine puffer, that I've had for over 3 years, has gone on the occasional hunger strike but never for this long. There were a couple of days where he ate, but then went back into hiding in his cave and hasn't eaten anything in over 10 days when he used to come up and beg for food at dinner time every night. He doesn't come out to see us and we've tried peas for constipation as that has worked in the past. We have tried krill and raw shrimp (his favorite). He looks like he has a slight belly bulge but it doesn't seem to go down so I was wondering about parasites? I also see conflicting things about their teeth. Do they grow and need trimming? He won't eat snails so we get him clams every so often for him to try and grind his teeth down. But I am reading that their teeth don't continuously grow if in captivity on a mostly soft food diet, other people say you need to trim them. Does anyone have a picture of what overgrown teeth look like and what they should look like? I am going to try and get a pic of him as well, but he's been such a recluse I haven't been able to get any recently.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
