Polytoxin in mouth

Hello, has anyone had the misfortune of having a few drops of poly on their tongue and lips? what could happen to me? burns a lot

Call poison control for your country and/or contact a competent doctor/medical professional.

Palytoxin ingestion (typically via seafood) is reportedly one of the most common routes for palytoxin poisoning to occur - if the poisoning is bad, then you may need medical support to hold you over until it clears your system:

"Symptoms include:

• Flu-like symptoms such as coughing, fever, chills, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, chest pain, respiratory distress.
• Skin symptoms: rash (hives), itching, numbness, dermatitis.
• Respiratory symptoms: wheezing, tight chest, shortness of breath, runny nose, fluid in the lungs.
• Gastrointestinal symptoms: abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.
• Ocular symptoms, conjunctivitis, photophobia, blurred vision, corneal ulceration.
• Neurological symptoms: fatigue, dizziness, speech disturbance, bitter metallic taste, tremors, tingling or numbness of extremities.
• Muscle symptoms: pain, weakness, cramps, spasms.
• Cardiac effects: irregular, slow, fast hear rate, cardiac muscle damage, low or high blood pressure

Severe cases report muscle breakdown, kidney failure, coma and death from cardiac or respiratory failure. There is no specific treatment of antidote for Palytoxin poisoning with medical treatment limited generally to supportive care."

I'd consider this more of a medical emergency than an R2R "reef emergency" and seek medical attention immediately.

Sheesh, I hope you're okay! Update us when you can... It definitely can become serious fast. Probably not much help anymore, but if this ever happened again, it would warrant medical attention.

Just out of curiosity, how did this happen?
