Started reefing at 60 when I retired. Africans for forty years. 90g mixed reef now 3 yrs old. Learned a lot $$$ about what won’t grow and what will. Keep it simple. Ten times flow. I have same DC return pump. Love it. Good light. I started with dead rock. Light, porous, no bad hitchhikers. R2R great site

Started 90g lps dominant tank when I retired at 60. Learned $$$$$ a lot about what will and what for no good reason will not grow. I’m in the keep it simple school. Ten times flow with the same dc pump you have. Good light. Good skimmer. Chaeto under a Home Depot clip light. 25% water change every three weeks. I dose nothing but half shot vodka twice a week which keeps diatoms at zero. Enjoy. R2R great site

63 here .....my current 225 gal tank has been running since 2011. Previously had an 85 gal flat back reef tank ......prior to that I had all fresh water tanks. The older you get the more automation you want/need....LOL

Finally! I’m not considered one of the old ones lol. I’m 39 and have had fresh water here and there throughout the years. I finally decided to take the saltwater plunge a little over a year ago. Saltwater is definitely more challenging and frustrating but by far more rewarding as well.

We got out for 10 years and just got back in. I’ve missed it so much. I love hearing bubbles in my living room! When I say things like, “I only want a 20 gallon freshwater tank” my hubby just says “whatever.” He knows me well after all these years!

Btw.... your tank is great. I have the exact same tank and stand and I love it. I wish you’d come build me a rolling shelf!;) I also have to ask.... your user name is bamabuff. Are you in the the same great state as I am? I’m in Mobile.

I have kept fresh water tanks on and off since I was a kid. Set up an Afican Cichlid tank after a 20 year break 8 months ago...Frontosas and Haps. I decided to get a 25 IM AIO. Quite a learning curve but worth it and is going well. I have a IM Nuvo 100 on order and am building the stand and cycling the rock in a brute can. Btw I'm 65. You're only as old as you are between your ears. Welcome aboard!!

Continue to do what gives you pleasure and keeps you active(physical & mental). I'm 66 and have several sw/reef tanks. Love it as you never stop learning, face challenges, etc. I love talking SW and helping others, sharing my corals, etc! Keep on, keeping on!!
