POLL: Aquarium hood/cover or open top? What’s your preference?

I’ve had a Biocube for 2 years now and it of course comes with a hood/cover, but at some point I found it advantageous to take the cover off. I see pros and cons to both but I guess I’m curious what is favored amongst our society. Please vote and also feel free to give your opinion on your choice as well.

im looking to renovate a biocube. personally, i find the lid odd to look at, but a lidless rimmed tank even odder. i do need some place to mount an AI prime, so the latter it is...

Ive Always had glass covers and canopy.
It deters evaporation, jumping and splashing

Prefer open top…but not the most practical for airborne-prone fish, unfortunately.

I like open top, but I also have jumpers, so I settle on the mesh overlay grid. Best of both worlds.

I think it depends on your climate. I had trouble keeping my Biocube 32 cool in the summer time. I live near Atlanta. I now have a 25 gallon lagoon and have a mesh cover. Lots of evaporation helps keep it cool, but requires an ATO system.

I purchased a mesh lid from Kraken Reef and have my AI attached to the back.
