All has been fine with them for 3 months, until today I come back from class and the female has a small white pump under her snout. It’s not offset and right in the middle and looks attached but I’m not sure because I’ve never seen it before. She normally doesn’t eat in the afternoon but will eat in the morning and midday, so her not eating during this feeding was normal to me. But could anyone help identify?

Bump on the snout is a likely injury. If seahorse is eating, it should heal. Often they get a discoloration known as vibrio but doesnt appear to be as they would have loss of appetite, swelling, again discoloration and continue mouth erosion. Do however keep an eye on area.
If infected, neomyacin would be best remedy

Sorry - I can’t see the bump in the pictures. It may just be a simple injury, but seahorses are also prone to vibrio bacteria and Uronema protozoans, both which will cause white pimples or bumps.

What else is in the tank?

Let us know if it eats for you.

The only thing in the tank is a mandarin and some CUC. She ate this morning very enthusiastically so I’m not too concerned. Definitely keeping and eye out. The bump is right under her snout in the middle

Thanks - I see the spot now. Seahorses are prone to Gas Bubble Disease (GBD). Those lesions are translucent and this looks more opaque, so I think you can rule that out, but you might want to run a Google search to see if it matches to what you are seeing.

Is there any swelling anywhere else on the seahorse? @Jay Hemdal if it is GBD, then there is an issue with bacteria in the tank and other seahorses can get it too, since GBD is correlated with the environment the seahorse lives in, right?

Sorrry I was at class! No no swelling elsewhere. They are live brine, and their frozen food today so I’m not as worried since she’s still eating, they were just moved about an hour away so that could’ve stirred something up which is why I was worried. But as of now I’m just gonna keep watching as she’s behaving fine, no other signs, and still eating
