To answer your question, most people get a bubble tip anemone, like a rainbow BTA, black widow BTA, or a Chicago Sunburst BTA (if you got the $$$). No guarantee that the clowns will take up the BTA. Mine have ignored BTAs for years and live in a large Toadstool.

Good to know, thank you! I’ll keep an eye out for one of those.

He came with the tank, I purchased the tank used. Guy has the receipt for him, bought it not knowing what he was getting into, he paid 400 dollars for that fish…. I figured I’d keep the fish while it’s appropriate size then find something to do with it when it gets too big. I kind of got stuck with him.

Ouch, I'm sorry about that (and sorry for the guy who paid $400 for one!). The juveniles are common in shallow tide pools, so I imagine easy to collect--not necessarily a good idea, but you can see why they are popular to buy when juveniles (https://fishbase.mnhn.fr/summary/5624).

Some people have theirs take residence in hammers, torches, gonis... I even had my two temporarily get "hosted" by a Caulastrea (which did not like its guests). My take with clowns is to get some BTAs if you like anemones, or if you have a large tank and don't mind the risk and challenge, a Haddoni or magnifica or gigantea anemone, and then fill up the rest of you tank with corals you like, and they'll pick where they want to stay.

Great, thank you! Ill do some research and find which one(s) I like best.

Hello, recently I introduced a new anemone to the tank. (125 gallon)

I’ve read tons of other threads and forums about the issue I’m having but I’ve not gotten the answers I’m looking for.

My anemone shrivels up into almost nothing and will stay like that for hours on end, sometimes over 12 hours at a time. Other times it’s out fully and vibrant, looking extremely healthy. Can anyone explain why is shriveling up for as long as it is? Is it normal? Does it look healthy?

I feed it a little pinch of mixed carnivore frozen food (thawed) every three days because the clowns don’t seem to interact with it at all.

Water is spot on.. I test it once a week and I’ve also typically bring a cup to my local salt water fish shop so they can test it and confirm my results.

I’ll attach some pictures, some when it’s shriveled up, some when it’s out and fully exposed, let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I agree this isn't a BTA but it and any BTA may be going thru so chemical warefare. How many BRA's do you have

Should I be worried now.. I’m not seeing any of the pink color on the tips.
He’s been like this all day today. He almost looks passed to me….
