yep. those bulbs are beyond belief. Having seen the results, pending decent par and good growth, i will use all T5's on the new display.

That is a rather substantial difference! Very crisp white, a nice balance. I know you are the Acan guru, but keep an eye on them, my 6 seem to cook the little guys. I am having success with the latest batch, but they are LITERALLY in the shadow of a LARGE cap!

warning thread hijack to proceed in 3..2...1...

Hey im thinking of a ight change. the tank is about 24 inches tall and 18 wide or so. I am thinking of upgrading to a 250 watt MH with 20k radiums and luminarc elite. but your system is dang bright do you think the T5 has goo light penatration for the deeper tanks?

oh believe me, things are getting moved around tomorrow...that or im going to reduce the daylight cycle to only 4-5 hours a day.

I have to say, i think these lights are going to rock for growing SPS.

Im excited to see the results over the next few weeks.

im putting them on my 300 and its 27 deep.

So, yes, absolutely.

I would get the aquatinics constellation 48" fixture. It has 7 bulbs.

Its got active cooling, and a better plexi shield.

I had so much trouble with my plexi shield tonight i took it off.

Im going to retro something to hold it better tomorrow if i have time.

If you really want to go crazy check out the ATI pro module. Its really really nice, but $$.

Spike, my 90 is 24 tall, and I grow SPS on the sandbed. T5 is as good as halide, no question at all.

OK bud, I'm coming over! I have to see the new lighting, and am anxious to see the Simu in action... I'm suprised how "low-key" it looks mounted to the outside of the fixture like that!

do you think the T5 has goo light penatration for the deeper tanks?
I've seen frogspawn, torches, duncans and more bleach hard while on the SB of a 28" high tank under T5s... as Poseidon said, they're just as, if not more intense than MHs if set-up correctly (ie, good bulbs, reflectors and ballasts).

Not to mention they MELT acans into nothingness.... I have my few acans in the shadow of a large cap, and they are doing well there. On the sandbed, 24" from my fixture, they melt.

those are over driven correct?

Ive also got them about a good foot or more over the tank.

Very blue lighting over all as well.

Ill have to keep a close eye on them.

If i have to raise them more, ill be sure to do so.

Kinda of a PITA, but the things we do...
