Sweet setup! I've been thinking of going over to that light, this just gives me that much more reason to do so.

It certainly has its pluses and minuses.

the acrylic shield sags bad on it, to the point where I'm going to get some aluminum and add supports around the edges.

hard to get bulbs in and out, but most are a PITA too.

Light output is very good, and it appears there is plenty of room to mod with overdriven or dimmable ballasts if i really want to down the road.

I hope to be adding a profilux simustick tonight, and ill try and get some pics.

But, ive got Marv heading over with oodles of goodies, so may not be enough time.

I agree Dave! You are certainly welcome up this way too, but to be honest there are MORE tanks in Jr's neck of the woods.

The swap in Jan, is in the middle of the state, and in the same city as Preuss Pets. (Or Crazy Ricks, the web sponsor here.) That store alone may be worth the trip!

LOL! It is not quite the bad up here. There are 4 or 5 VERY nice tanks within 15 minutes of me, but the Livonia, Farmington Hills, Novi area probably has 20+!

Of course Jr does have quite a few tanks, but I am sure he is anxiously awaiting the set up of the 300!

Also, just picked up a Profilux SimuL stick...now ive got red/orange sunrises, and blue and white moon lights with full moon phases....wicked cool!

i got it from the fish guys when they sold off their freshwater tanks.

Ive got an 8 footer in my garage, that im likely not going to be using.

If i dont end up using it, ill let you know. For what its worth, glass cages has some decent stuff for frag tank purposes. I dont know that i would order a display, but i got a real nice 8" tall rimless tank that i had at the last swap, and it was like $90.

How big is this tank, 8" just seems really shallow to me. I did like the rimless tank you had at the swap.

the 8 footer is 8' x 2' x 1'

the rimless one i had at the swap was 48" x 18" x 8"

How big is this tank, 8" just seems really shallow to me. I did like the rimless tank you had at the swap.

Wish mine was on par with the others I have seen online from this area (I havent seen any in person) but Im working on the wife on a rebuild.

Re-loaded the fixture with all new Aqua Science T5's from Cherry Corals...WOW

WOW doesnt even come close to explaining how happy I am right now.

Ive never seen a better balance of color, intensity, and contrast in T5's ever before.

A little extra money than the standard brands, but MORE than worth it.

I loaded it with

4 - 22k's, 2 front and 2 back
2 - Duo's, in the 3 and 5 position
2 - 15k's, in the 4 and 6 position

Pics tomorrow hopefully, and PAR readings as soon as my meter arrives.
