Phosfoe phosphate removal help!

Hi all,

I've came across a product on Ebay called phosfoe, it's a granular phosphate remover and it's a LOT cheaper then anything else I can find.

Has anybody every used it?, and do you think it would be OK?

First time poster BTW and thanks for any help.

Welcome to R2R! I don’t have experience with that particular product but a quick google search tells me it is just granular ferric oxide (GFO). This is a very common phosphate removal media. Typically the only difference you will find between brands at different price points is the amount of fine particles or “dust”. So the cheaper stuff may need to be rinsed more before use than the more expensive stuff. Just rinse in tap water until the water is running clear, then add to your reactor or media bag. It is powerful stuff so go slow and test often.
