First off its definitely a type of beetle. They congregate around water, both tap and mainly in my aquarium. So definitely not hydrophobic. Niehter are they hallophyllic nor hallophobic (salt averse/loving).
Size maybe 5mm at largest.
Color is dark brown.
Cannot identify 1) swimming legs.
Larva, but realistically not surprised considering the adults are so small.
There is no open food, anywhere in the house, so they must be eating something in the aquarium. Present everywhere there is water, drains sump main tank, sump pit.
Not necessarily a nuisance to me, but the GF can't stand bugs.
I wish I had a pic but my gf won't touch em and I keep forgetting to take a pic of them. Maybe somebody has a pic. And I can confirm or I'll post one here eventually.
