Evening all,
I've been in the Reef Hobby for a while now (about 6+ years) but still consider myself a newbie. After a tank crash i got unmotivated and didn't buy anything new for the tank for the last 11 months. the zoos and Lobo that did survive hadn't gown in that time period then i got the itch back and turned my t5s up 10% then for longer time period and BOOM! 3 heads of Zoas are now a bush the 2 head lobo now has 6 heads and fluffy! After keeping that up for theta 3 months i decided to pull the trigger on WWC father day weekend sale and got some of the budget corals listed below. Ok now to the question, I had everything on a rack for about 4-5 days and everything seemed fine. I mounted most of them temp on the rock work without glue just to see if the coral would be happy in the spot i choose. today was mounting day and i realized i never tested Phosphates Hanna ULR popped out 0.43(not 0.043! Shocked i busted out the Phosphate RX and knowing i needed to take it slow dosed 50% of the 50% recommend amount about 25 drops. Then everything looked ticked off, corals colors went away and even the old zoas didn't open. I was worried and tuned on carbon reactor on after a few hours. I let it run for a few more hours and things seemed to get some color back. I tested again with the hanna and it read 0.2, not (0.02). I looked at the Hanna packet and noticed it expired in Feb, would this throw the test off that much? anyone have any ideas?
