I angled mine inward and have them only 8 inches above the water line to minimize the light spill over. What intensity/ schedule are you running them?
I plan on mounting 8" above water line as well. But I am getting the 70 reflectors...My kessils are 8" so I can't really mount them above. Anyone take par readings on these yet? I'm getting the blue plus

I have them start 5% at 6am, ramp up to 100% at noon and then back down by 6pm. I also have the lunar mod on at night. The heavy blue light makes them look dimmer than they really are so I am interested in the amount of PAR they put out. I think I will add an OR3 150 Violet/Day for full daytime color spread and figure out where I can borrow a PAR meter. The rental meters at BRS are currently out of stock.

What lenses do the OR3 have? Surprised they are going from 90 to 70 lenses since my only complaint with the OR3 is the blending and spread. If anything I’d like to see more like 120.

Think you can pick actually.

Acrylic Lens choice 120/90/60 degree
120 degree – water depth < or = 60 cm / 24″ (default )
90 degree – water depth < or = 100 cm / 39″
60 degree – water depth < or = 150 cm / 60″

The OR3's have the older style lenses as seen here. The OR4's have reflectors. I do not think I will have a blending problem with the Violet/Days as there are only tow alternating color chips. The OR3 Reef Days have a random orange LED that do not blend well across the length of the bar. This was fixed in the OR4s.

The OR4's have reflectors...... The OR4's allow you to choose between 90 deg or 70 deg.

Funny, I was just thinking about that.
A retrofit reflector for the old models..and maybe for the new models.
Good choice and problem half solved.

I understand the 2 sizes but the loss of the wider angle is unfortunate.
Since generally the spread pattern is much better with reflectors it shouldn't be a terrible issue.

Lenses really were designed more for "high contrast" i.e shadows.
Does add punch though.
Reflectors are much softer i.e less harsh shadows.

The reflectors in the OR4's seem to give my tank more of a T5 look but when angling the fixture I can clearly control spill over and see a defined line. My old T5's lit up the entire room.

Just FYI to anyone who is interested. I was informed the 70 degree OR4's ship out Monday. My rep gave me the option of 90, but noted that the par is far greater on the 70, we shall see.

Overall par should be the same.
Just more concentrated .

Does anyone have any mounting suggestions? I have 5 Kessil's (a360x) currently. I like the clean look, but I feel like this is going to turn into a monstrosity. I'm thinking I'm going to have to make some sort of hood to hang from the ceiling. Or some sort of bracket.

I used some shelf brackets to make a floating hood. You can still see them hang out the bottom but it works. You should line the Kessils down the middle and supplement with Orpheck bars on either side. I bolted the hardware that came with the bars to a piece of steel, which h

Nice. I like the floating hood look and thought about doing this. I wonder if there is a way to mount the hood without even seeing the brackets...I'm sure that is pretty heavy...does it dip at all?

Real floating tops/shelves us a square bracket that slide into a slot in the frame so you do not see it. It does not dip but I di need to shim it up to make it level.

Hi,

I am currently running 4 x radions xr15 via a ecotech rail across the tank. Any idea how to mount this led strip to my light fixture? Was previously told to get the universal hanging kit but the holes does not line up with the xr15 screw holes.

A perpendicular bar resting over the top could work if you are using two light bars or one light bar and a counter weight. Orphek also makes a number of other mounting options such as this acrylic side mount. 1720535292892.png
