As the title states my tank is rid of all its aiptasia or so it looks that way. I put in 2 peppermint shrimp recently. What will they eat now since I can’t seem to find any more aiptasia? Do I supplement with something else?

They are scavengers, will eat any leftover food now dont worry about target feeding them. Keep an eye on corals they might munch

I haven't see a single aptasia in my display in over 6 months... with pepermint and filefish *but* I would recommend checking your overflow return and sump (all the chambers)... these are the area's that I can never clear and there are always a bunch in them in my tank :/

uneaten food and detritus. Assure they dont turn on your soft coral as some have been known to

Alway keep an eye out. Sometimes just when you thought they were gone a tiny one will come out of nowhere

How big is your tank? If it's on the larger side, there are that many more places for aiptasia to grow (and thus be eaten) and potentially more detritus for them to munch on when aiptasia has been cleared out. At the worst, if they munch on corals, just catch and release to the LFS.

Good job getting rid of the aiptasia. Once again, I reiterate to check your sump, and the little nooks and crannies in your tank. Aiptasia is unfortunately resilient. It took my several weeks of removing the rock and scrubbing the aiptasia off with a sponge.

Your peppermint shrimp should have no issue finding detritus or leftover food to eat, just assure they don’t go after your soft corals.

If they do you can make a shrimp trap with a soda bottle super easy. Just keep an eye out
Haha, you can make that trap, but no guarantees they will go anywhere near it. I have 3, and tried the trap. Was useless for me. I ended up setting my alarm for midnight to go down and catch them when they are out scavenging. That worked. I moved them to my sump with a couple rocks to hid under until I needed them again. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest target feeding a week or so, to get them hooked on the food, and then they will appear at fish feeding time for the good stuff rather than the easy stuff (coral).
