My display tank usually takes care of them (maybe it's the 3 peppermint shrimp I have?) but some do survive in the sump.
It's most likely the shrimp. I pulled my CBB to move it to a different tank and within a week I had aiptasia coming out of the overflow weir. Brought a couple peppermints over and the aiptasia disappeared. Some people freak out over them, me not so much. The only time I've really had a lot was when I didn't have a predator and I tried killing them myself with kalk paste and other methods. It seemes like they just stepped up reproduction. I stopped trying to kill them all and they stopped reproducing and just grew larger. I have them in all of my sumps. To me they're about like vermatids and asterinas. I always end up with them but I don't try to run a sterile system, just takes too much effort for me.
