Finally am officially started reef keeping.

Introduced three species to the system.
Alveopora
An acan
And a frag of scrambled eggs

Been repositioning around the last few days and based on the reactions landed on their placement

It ain’t much but she’s just getting started.

Tanks been running well

Alveopora healing and new polyps growing in size at frag site

Acan chugging along being moody still but feeding

Zia’s have been zoaing

Did start my uv as brown spotting started.

Pods have been plentiful so might be time to introduce the dragonet next

I'm glad to see your coral is doing well!

Cool!
I've been tempted by alveopora at my LFS but too much of a wimp since I thought they were allegedly "difficult" to keep.
Good job...

Transfer and hope the livestock doesn’t get too shocked
I did 37 gallon tall to 40 breeder 2.5+ years ago and it went well,,, and mine was in a house nook so at least that part should be easier in your case.

I'll assume you've done your research and have a plan but will note what I think two key parts are:
-- plastic bins and/or smaller tanks on the floor for temporary housing ... with air pumps/stones for livestock
-- new sand MASSIVELY rinsed before hand (for new tank)

I love Gonis and Euphyllia. Maybe too much

I’ve moved tanks twice before. No serious issues. Just use new sand. If moving to larger like you are just add some commensurate live rock would be my suggestion.

Yeah have some modifications to the system also coming to the works

The 20 is going to be a sump
some lighting upgrades
Then find the next goals

Move plane so far

After prepping new sand
-Drain water to a tote w air and pump for livestock and coral and rocks
-Move rock structure and ensure solid footing (rocks are elevated on lava rocks for goby friends)
-Once light enough move stand and 20 gallon
-Move 40 and stand into place.
-put new rinsed sand bed down fill with a sizable amount new sea water
-Get livestock comfy happy and rehouse
-top off any remaining gaps w new water reserve.

Plan to have about a full 20s worth of water available and prepped in a separate tote just in case.

We back.
Next steps
Lighting

Baffles for the 20 long

So far looks like I might have lost a firefish
And a zoa frag

Sorry about your losses! The new tank looks great, though!
