So my tank is three years old and I am still battling phosphate and algae and I’m just sick of it

I keep testing and getting no nitrate and phosphate
I have corals and I think the algae is killing them what can I do I’m just so exhausted

If you have algae issues, than you are getting false readings for the fact the algae is consuming the phosphates and feeding off of them…for nitrates you can feed more or dose nitrates…I would manually remove as much algae as possible

How are you testing your NO3 and PO4, Hanna Checker? Do you run a fuge with macroalgae for nutrient export? How often and much do you feed?

I had to double dose neophos and neonitro for multiple months to get measurable numbers. You want nitrates at 10 and Phosphate. 05 to .1 or you will never get over this hurdle.

Water changes weekly.
don’t run a fuge just a. Skimmer.
feedings I try to keep very lightly but I should stop doing coral feed to them to them ever other day and go once a week

Stop your water changes, you are taking out your nutrients out of the water column

Do you try to remove algae when you do water changes? Do you have a recent picture of your tank? What type of algae do you have?

Can/do you want to run a HOB fuge? Add some chaeto and run it on reverse cycle to help maintain pH and compete for NO3 and PO4.
