Hi , I had nitrates in my reef tank 34.3 ppm measured on the 12 of May . Started using Nitraphos Minus and pro bio S on the 18 May. Together with 10% weekly water changes my Nitrates are now down to 10.3ppm . Great news.
However during the process, a few of my LPS Hammer , frogspawn and goniopora has not been opening as big as it used to . Initially I thought it could be due to the drop in Nitrates that they are not liking . But one day I discovered 30 mins after dosing nitraphos minus, my goniopora went straight into its shell with completely no polyp extension. Curious, I stopped the dosing for a week , it slowly opened up(20%). Tested my Nitrates after not using the product for a week , it went up from 10.3 to 11.6 ppm . So just to test if Nitraphos minus was affecting the corals , I decided to dose half of what I was dosing (3ml) . True enough the goniopora went into hiding again .
Should I stop using it or should I use NpPro with pro bio S instead?
I’m also using AF probiotics reef salt for my weekly 10% water change .

Goniopora and frogspawn seem to be opening up slightly more than before . Since the first day I started this thread . I have stop Nitraphos minus and just using NP Pro and Pro Bio S . Nitrates tested yesterday was 10.6 down from 11.6 .
Phosphate the same .
I test both nitrates and phosphate using Hanna digital testers.
I do not have Acropora but I do have 2 Monti plates which have come back from the dead when my Nitrates came down and 1 birdnests which has stop turning white and now have full polyp extension.

There is no need to reduce NO3 and PO4 that much for LPS Corals (and Monti also).
If you are using Probiotic Reef Salt, NitraPhos Minus, Pro Bio S and -Np Pro - that's a lot for them.
I would suggest to use Probiotic Reef Salt(weekly or bi-weekly water change), Pro Bio S and -NP Pro.

I am hoping to keep Acropora that’s why I’m bringing my No3 down. What would be a good number to target for NO3 if I have Acropora and LPS

I have been using the Nitraphos minus for almost a year with the daily dosing of 13 ml in my 210G SPS, LPS mixed tank with very good results. I am using a dosing pump and divide the 12 ml into 24 times dosing into the sump.

If you want to lower nitrate and phosfate even more I would suggest using pro bio F in conjuction with probio s and -np pro. My experience with nitraphosminus in conjunction with probios and -np pro is that it is to aggresive.
You can use VSV in conjuction with probios and -np pro and the probioF is an alternative for that method. I would start using 1/2 recommended dosage and keep measuring :)

Also: to boost filtration you could use life bio fill and see how that works out.
