New (to us) tank with live rock turning white

Hello,
We purchased a used tank with 3 fish and live rocks. When we got it home we set it back up using as much of the original water as possible. We had several 5 gallon buckets to hold the rocks and water. The tank was doing fine for 2 weeks and overnight the base and rocks had brown algae all over them. That has subsided but now 1 rock has turned white. Is this normal?

This is highly unusual. I have never heard of any other folks setting up a tank and drowning the rocks

Do you have any type of CUC in there that would be mowing them down? My urchins leave my rock looking like that overnight.

If you have CUC in there, that is normal.

Coraline can die off.
Reasons, not in water for a period of time/drying out, lights to Brite/dim suddenly, low alk.

The rock will recover from the moving trauma.
