An okay, so you think he is probably eating the food I squirt in his cave? I just want to make sure he is eating. And Im hesitant to try the ghost shrimp cause I have a lionfish too thats small and shes eating frozen great! He was eating frozen at the store, I have a video of him doing it. The shop was feeding him krill, which both my LFS stores are out of. So I have the plankton and mysis shrimp
Yes- rarely did I see the fish at feeding but it was never skinny making it likely it is getting food
Mine eats anything frozen and dry- I dont get extreme with seafood but it should take it. Chopped scallops is a favorite

Ah cool! I really want mine to swim around the tank cause he is so beautiful! Ive seen him out and about in the back of the tank a few times but he hides when I come up to the tank!
Again, they naturally hunt (i.e. leave their cave) at dawn and dusk. Look for it to be more active when your lights are coming on/going off.

Marine betas are groupers. Mine will come out during the feeding time but he won’t touch mysis or any floating food. He just knows I’m there when the smell of food is in the water. He knows when I grab my forceps he’s going to be fed. The way I feed him is getting a chunk of frozen diy food in forceps and put it in front of him, he will snatch it right out of the forceps. This is my favorite part of the fish feeding process TBH. I feel like him and yellow tang are the two fish that I actually interact with. I can post a video if you want to give you an idea of how to feed yours.

No, they are not.

And to clarify, marine bettas share the same class but are not in the same family. Which means they share some traits but not directly related.

Mine is the first in my tank to remind me it's feeding time now, but he used to be very timid and I rarely saw him eat. As long as the flow takes food back near the cave, you're probably good.

I've had him over 2 years.

yeah, they're buddies
Thats very odd, my foxface (shes like an inch) hangs out in or around the same cave as my betta too. Really weird, cause she has a spot on the other side of the tank but moved after about 3 days after the betta clamed his cave
