from the photos i would assume some type of mushroom, have you had any mushrooms in your tank before?

Yeah I have a few in there but nothing that looks like this one
hmmm, the only thing i could think of is that it might have hitchhiked on from another frag or coral and just stayed hidden for a bit, most mushrooms are quite hardy and can pop back up from the dead :0

It’s beautiful just was hoping it wasn’t some type of nuisance anemone.

I’d say shroom also and a gorgeous one. It may well have come in as a tiny piece on a frag. I have a discoma that came in on a frag, detached, hid under a rock a while, attached itself to a cerith and rode around on it for about a month, attached itself to the rock in the right rear corner, moved when the RFA became its neighbor, attached itself to a flat rock for about 3 weeks, decided it didn’t like it there anymore and moved to the sand in a little alcove, changed its mind again and attached itself to the back side of my little euphyllia island in the front left of the tank and is slowly creeping around to the front of the island. It was a little red spec when it came in. It’s the size of a 50 cent piece now.

If that is in fact a shroom, I want to know what kind. I want one.

I will try and get a better photo tomorrow. I did put some new shrooms in the tank about a month or so ago. It’s very pretty something I’ve never seen before.
