Hey just got a new BTA a few days ago. He looks good and was open for the first day, attached well and hasn’t moved spot yet but the last 2 days he’s remained balled up and hasn’t opened. Tank 6-7 month old.acclimatised for an hour.
Salinity 1.024 alk 7.5 , mg and calcium normal range, temp 26 degrees, ph 8, nitrates 8 pho 0.02

Is that normal for a new BTA as a form of adjustment ?? Worrying as he’s been balled up constantly for about 48 hours now :/

This literally just opened a little bit in the first time for 48-72 hours but now looks like this , not sure if poop or guts :S still attached to rocks and contracting/relaxing to open up a bit.

Have you got medium flow in your tank . It could be poop . See how it goes . Sometimes when you first put nems in they hide away due to new lighting. So you are going to just let it settle and keep an eye out for signs of it disintegrating from death but in the picture it doesn’t look happy but they do this . Have you been feeding it they get there health from your lights so i would hold of feeding until it’s fully open and looking better

Hmm I’ll see how he goes. From what I’ve read I think the stringy stuff in the middle is mesenterial filaments which makes me feel like he might be dying but who knows - so hard to know what’s normal and what’s not, just hoping he doesn’t polite my whole tank if he dies :/
