Hello all

I’ve got a 6-7 month old tank - got a new Anemome - acclimatised for an hour and added - was open for first 12-24 hours, stayed in the same spot, didn’t wonder about.

Then it contracted into a ball like shape for the next 48-72 hours and didn’t open up. Now it finally opened up but seems to be expelling something - the issue is I’m not sure if it’s guts or waste ?? I don’t want to tank my tank with a dying Anemome.

It’s a BTA

Hi,

Sometimes I see the same thing when the anemone has eaten plenty before transportation and a short time for acclimatization makes the same problem.

although I usually prefer more than 1 hour of acclimatization for any invertebrate but 1 hour should be enough also, unless it's not performed accurately.

I think you can find the problem easier, as you have more information about what has been done.

water parameters are not perfect but seem ok for anemone.

best of luck,

Thank you! Hopeful for the best - I’ll update when I know one way or the other. But appreciate your opinion

I have never seen nor heard of a dying anemone nuking a tank. Maybe if it got chopped up and all the nematocysts stung the coral...
It is a mith.
