Isn’t the Paxbellum arid c36 sexy ! The Arid is atmospherically isolated and dependent on CO2 in the water respired by organisms or from the excess from a Ca reactor effluent. If CO2 is very low the chaeto can take up inorganic carbon by using bicarbonate. Scrubbers are not atmospherically isolated and have unlimited CO2 which can lead to excess organics that can in turn throw off the bacterial population in the system and lead to excess denitrification by anaerobic bacteria.
