Just a cuc, I know... But its just the fact of getting something in there to move other than some sand that is so exciting... Soon enough there will be fish and corals... I am keeping my impatience in check though... LOL

Can be hard to do LOL, fortunatly my budget helps to keep me in check and to keep things slow, also helps to have a few fish in :D When are you planning on adding your first fish?

It is built really nice and easy to put in.. The hardest part was cutting off the piece between slot one and two to allow more water through... But the piece that goes over the media basket fits over where I cut too low... Yes I got the media baskets and refugium and led lights for the refugium... I had to put two pieces of filter floss on the top rack to make it more silent since the tank is in the bedroom but that's not a big deal...

Which fuge light did you go with?

Well I just got these today so I am thinking first fish sometime this weekend... maybe Sunday?? Just to make sure the biological filtration has time to boost up with the clean up crew being added... Does that sound like enough time in your opinion?

I think it should be fine, I would continue to test your parameters as long as don't get any ammonia or nitrites you should be good for adding a pair of clowns if that is still your plan. Also you can keep something like prime or amquel plus on hand just in case.

I will have to look for those in the stores... but hopefully everything will be fine as I test the water the next few days... Keep your fingers crossed :)

Should be able to find Prime or Amquel plus at any of the lfs, they should have them with the other water conditioners and such.

Always good to have on hand imo with a new tank, either of those products will detoxify ammonia if it happens to show up in your tank. Other than that just make sure to take it slow and give the your biological filtration a chance to adjust to the bioload ;)

Id love to but aren't they hard to take care of for a newbie? They need good lighting and extra clean water, right? So probably not the best option for me at this point. Plus they don't do well with corals if I remember correctly. Im hoping to get a frogspawn in the biocube at some point and hopefully they will host that... But if not, then maybe one day when I have more experience I can get an anemone...

Okay so I got my first two corals from World Wide Corals here in Orlando a couple of days ago... please tell me if the process I did to add them was correct...

First I floated the bags for about 15 minutes to acclimate the temp.

I next took some of the water the corals came with and put it in a small tupperware with some Coral RX and shook them around for about ten minutes each... then I put the corals back in the bag with the rest of the water from the store and I added some of my tank water every five minutes for another 20 minutes or so...

Then I placed them in my tank... They still are a little closed up but I assume its just their transition time to get used to my tank right?

Oh yeah, ithey are a bicolor frogspawn and a orange/purple ricordia.. I have the ricordia in a kind of shady area and the frogspawn near the middle of the rock and it gets some flow from my rotating water deflector as it rotates...

I haven't started adding corals yet, so I am not sure about the acclimation process for new corals. If you don't get any replies for your answer here in your build thread I would suggest starting a thread in either the reef discusion thread or the LPS thread may get better response that way ;)

Love the rockwork, and the clowns :) - lots of great places for eggs to be attached :) :)

Thanks! I plan on filling it with lots of corals so I wanted to make sure my rockwork was conducive to them. And have a few fish of course!! :) And if they breed... all the better! That's how I look at it with my freshwater tanks. Im not looing to actively breed currently but if it happens then it is a happy accident :)
