I hate those plastic tabs.
The rear ones are hinges
The front ones are to keep it on the frame

Dunno why it stands out so much in that pic. They are clear in person

The hinges give access for filtration compartment maintenance without having to remove the lid

If you don’t like the hinges the whole thing can be made as a single piece, or you can not have the filtration area covered. Walter will customize anyway you want and can add or remove anything from the design.

Notches for wires, light mounts, feeders, holes with lids for manual feeding, etc. I dont even think he charges extra for most customizations

Then I smudged everything trying to wipe away a few drops of water I spilled lol

My lid was fine but I got the plank feeder and needed a custom hole for the feeding tube. I could have cut it but I don’t really trust myself to cut the panel. I’ve worked with plexi before and it melts when cutting. I don’t know if polycarb is the same. Contacted walterlids and asked for a replacement right panel with the cutout. Price? $45. Sold

Told him how big and where to put it, arrived in a week. Made perfect. Perfect fit in my recessed frame. Hole exactly where it should be. Couldn’t be happier

OctoLids, Top Lids or Clear Lids. Don't buy from Kraken. They stole everyone's ideas and make lots of false claims such as "We make a lid for every tank." Which is not true because I had contacted them on multiple that they didn't make.

Does anyone make a thick frame custom aluminum cover? The polycarb lids from kraken are beautiful but that material is heavy, floppy, and the lids are a fortune when they get large. The lid that came with my 200g innovation marine is a thicker aluminum. It’s very light and stiff but IM doesn’t sell the components to make one yourself.

Octo aquatics would be my vote. They made my lid perfect.

I used clear view as my first lid and it was an absolute terrible experience with poor customer service. I do not recommend them at all. Use anyone but them and you will probably be fine.
What about Toplids?

Just don’t get the puzzle one, tsunami? It’s trash. They also cut my lid wrong the first time even though they told me they didn’t need the measurements for my brand of tank. Then they would not stand behind their warranty when it started to crack before a year. They sent me garbage.

Octo aquatics did a new lid and clearviews went to the landfill and the Octo one had no issues, was cut right and outlasted the tank and went on to a new owner.

72x30 x 24 looking for best custom lids?

Is plexi. Or acrylic a fine option ?

anyone point me in right direction as to where to order a super nice piece

IMG_4352.jpeg Did the old wire mesh DIY lid which works for now but it’s clunky and not great IMG_4292.jpeg
