a well meaning but misguided friend added a fish to my tank while cat sitting for me since Sunday! It's a tomato clownfish. It was added yesterday. I returned this morning. It's been swimming in
The top right corner of my tank apparently since being added. Is this normal? It's eating and seems fine otherwise. My water parameters are good. This is not how I wanted my first addition to go :(

He's probably there because he feels safe there, so he is essentially hosting that part of the tank as he would an anemone.. check him for any obvious signs of disease like discoloration, fin rot or white spots if void then he is hosting that part of the tank and as soon as he feels comfortable will venture out...

Probably just needs to get used to its surroundings. Wouldn't worry too much if it's eating. What I find strange is that people who watch your pets randomly leave other pets for you!? Lol

I would say he's fine, that's just where he's comfortable. Is this the first addition? If so, I believe they are a more aggressive clown species than most...someone might be able to clarify as I've never had one. That may cause you trouble down the road.

They do tend to be more aggressive than most other varieties and can be territorial in my experience..

Yes, first addition and not the fish I would've chosen. I had hoped to add a mated pair of snowflake clownfish. He's here now so I'll roll with it.

Thank you!!

Probably ok, I have 2 clowns that have decided to host my return. Funny thing is that I have 2 anemones in this tank and one is literally 5 inches away from my return and they show no interest at all.

My clowns have slept up by the top of the tank in a corner for years now, and I have witnessed other tanks where they hosted the water line too.

Mine also host the corner of my tank. Will swim away when they know it's feeding time
