Lololol so because someone likes something different than you, they are suckers. Why buy sneakers then, why buy sports cars when they take you to point A and B just the same - because it’s “cool”? What suckers man.
If the same corals were cheap, would you still like them?

I believe many people run the blues to hide the uglies and get used to it. But if you can't see it, how are they going to be on the up and ups with their tank?

Yea I guess that’s why Tidal Gardens, WWC, Jason Fox and many of the other premier coral growing institutions on this hobby run mostly blue - to hide the uglies….

But hey, what would high performance farming operations know about growing coral? We should all take your side instead “because it looks right” to you

Yea, the 1st one looks better with more blue. But you do lose the detail of the tentacles with the little balls on the end and texture of the flesh.
This coral loses something with the blue

Does your light have a way to auto tune to 10k/14k?

My “normal” settings + orange filter

Whites heavy, blue reduced, no filter

No, I use a photon 48 v2 that was before the app came out. I have a physical wireless handheld remote.

If someone else has the newer photon with the app and there is a setting for that, if they give me the channel values I can program them in and save as a preset

If the same coral was cheap, they probably wouldn’t have the color variation I’m looking for, and therefore no need to use a spectrum that would get that variation to show. At that point I wouldn’t care about what coral I got as long as structure looked different and just use 6500K lighting.

Again, just because someone doesn’t like what you like doesn’t mean it’s wrong or a “gimmick” and they’re “suckers”. If that’s the case, the you’re the “sucker” for having dull boring taste.

Difference of buying a Ferrari so that people know you have money vs buying one because of the fine piece of machinery it is

Define “fine piece of machinery”. Sounds subjective and sounds like you were just suckered into liking what’s “cool” and expensive.

So difference of buying high end coral for reef nerds to know how much you spent vs buying the coral for its unique qualities of a specimen?

I found this..
On the V2+, since there are 6 channels, all channels even would be about 14K. In terms of blue vs. white, you can group the three blue channels (3, 5, and 6) vs. the white channel (4) to adjust kelvin.

Fine piece of machinery, as in the power, speed, handling. Ie- you like fast cars so you got a Ferrari

I have the values for AB+ (typically around 14k spectrum).

Sure bud. Don't get stuck on one word. If it's not you, move on

Ahh, so like a corvette which is a fraction of the cost. Fast car, not as “cool” because price. Those Ferrari people are suckers!

People can spend their money on what they like and dont need to be “shamed” by you. As i tell my kids, check the attitude at the door.

You stated your opinion. Move on.

My opinion. All have visual merit in their own way. And if you can find some ways to show some cool color profile, awesome for you.

Enough of your “my way is best” bs.

I'm a fish guy first therefore rather see those as intended yet will lean towards a bluer white light but not a fan of all blue yet will likely manually adjust when wanting to see fluorescence in corals. Oddly, been told since the 80s we need blue lights. Now seeing many claiming best growth under white lights. No clue what tomorrow will claim.

Attitude? If you read good, we were having cordial conversation and there's a 2 people offended over one sentence. Get over it, you're obviously taking it different than everyone else. That said, sure that one sentence could have used some polishing

But white lights includes blue, it's still in there. It's the blue light that is taking something away...
