I popped back to my lfs earlier, the manager ribbed me about my kh monitoring yesterday so I took water in.
I took the sample before morning dosing.
The tank gets a splash of liquid alk each morning, a splash of calcium 3 or 4 times a week and a splash of all elements when I remember.
I manually top up twice a day with ro.

Alk - 8.3
Cal - 420
Mag - 350

Go me. ;)

Simon I was smiling ear to ear my friend. Tank gets a “splash” of this and a “splash” of this reminded of a master chef with a pinch of this and a dash of that. Chef knows by taste and exp. and you by your exp with watching and knowing your tank and how she behaves. I know you g
have pulled out a test kit from time to time but you as Crabby said have a gift a learned connection with your slice of ocean.
Thanks for sharing jaw hits the floor so much awesomeness to see in your tanks

Thank you for the very kind words I would never suggest that anyone runs a tank like I do unless they grasp the point.
Most pics are of the display, that is less than 50% of the actual water volume, big natural nutrient export and I feed heavily.
Within reason, if they say I can't do it I will try, I have a plump venustus angel that are apparently hard to feed and acros growing well, I am a very lazy reefer and designed the tank to fit easier, more natural! :)

The amount of life and how natural amazes me. Definitely my favorite system.

Thank you very much. :)
I love the tanks I follow and watching them develop, downs and ups and learning.
I was chatting to a mate at the lfs yesterday, he was picking up a trio of baby cherubs, his tank is different to mine but not "clean", the cherubs will graze naturally in his tank, he has sponge and algae and a great pod population and he feeds heavy.

The twins are just 4 years old, maturing well. ;)

Thoughts please, I have 2 colonies, slightly different colours, both have been doing plate sections.
Pic two would be a candidate around an inch.
They are paper thin on the edges, if I grabbed it right at the base do you recon it would snap off in one piece?

Well it might, but then again it might shatter into a thousand pieces!

Take a before and after when you do it.......
