Bit of a shameless bump but how is the reefbot working out for you? What is it’s accuracy like? How long is your reagents lasting? Any issues?

To be honest, I was super frustrated with it as results were coming in all over the place. Yesterday I finally tried testing using their setup configuration recommendations for the tank/RODI/waste lines, and then lo and behold, it began working as expected. The setup with the tank water coming from the display w(above the apparatus) was the silver bullet.

So note to others, if your results are coming in at the min/max test thresholds, it's probably because your lines aren't able to fill/drain correctly.

I’ve had mine running since February and I love it. Im very satisfied and well worth the investment. I’m on a schedule testing ALK, CA daily, NO3 and PO4 every other day and Mag every couple days. I just have to switch out the 3 NO3 reagents and out in the 3 mag. It’s fairly easy to adjust the app for the new tests and it saves your data. As slewrock points out you do get some bad readings from time to time, but I’ve found that it’s almost always human error..reagents to low, waste full, need to change needles, RO res empty.. I do burn through reagents but you can buy refills instead of full kits.. but it’s doing a lot of testing. Much more than I was or would be doing manually. I’ve found results to be very consistent and I trust them.

Has it improved your tank? Stabilized it more for you or fixed issues you may have been having w/ testing using other testers or anything else?

Yes, big improvements it’s much more stable because to be honest I was getting lazy with testing.. it’s hard to run 2-4 manual tests daily or at least a couple times a week which is necessary especially with SPS. Couple times it’s pointed me to doser that was out of 2part or plug loose.. I changed salt mix and Alk was moving up so adjusted dosing... my scrubber was dropping NO3 to 0 so adjusted feeding and light schedule..this was just over a few months. After many years of being tied to maintenance, I’ve tried to automate as much as possible so I could enjoy the tank and this was a good fit for that. I’ll be honest it’s not set and forget, it requires some upkeep as said in earlier mail but benefits to me far exceed. We’ll see if others feel the same

Yea I'm not quite 2yrs into the hobby, but I am frustrated w/ the current testers on the market. Too much guess work and approximation that I'm just not comfortable w/ for what I'm trying to achieve w/ my system. Hanna Salifert API RedSea theres just too wide a berth of estimation in my opinion to try and get accuracy for dosing whats needed. And couple that w/ sometimes just being busy/lazy/forgetful... I looked briefly into lab grade testing but the pricing is astronomical for whats needed, and its not easily obtainable as well. Saving up for the Reefbot thanks for continuing to update us on how its working out for you

Thank you all for the updates. I am considering investing in one for PO4 monitoring mainly but had concerns for its accuracy. Please keep us updated regularly

The ReefBot is now compatible with ELOS The Aquarium Company KH test kit. You can read your alkalinity levels between 5 and 14 dKH !

Ok.,.excuse my total ignorance.. but am I correct.. you purchase reagents .. so for example.. the salifert calcium test kit has a powder and two liquids.. so how does that work with RB?

Here's a list of the compatible kits.
Yes you need to buy the 3rd party reagents and just fill them inside the ReefBot vials.

Cheers

Thanks.. got it... Are you guys seeing accurate results with the Red Sea Test kit? How many tests can you get out of the unit before having to fill the reagents. ?

It’s accurate but keep in mind that it’s still in beta. It can do 11 tests before refill
