He is a heck of a photographer, and grower of coral.@Slocke I can help get this taken care of. Can you shoot me a PM? We never want this to be an issue at all. Maroun is a great guy, but he is VERY busy and may have missed it somehow. However, we'd never want to miss anyone getting their prize. I'm sorry that happened.
On this question, Maroun (and all of our mod team) are volunteers, so we absolutely allow them to participate in contests. Maroun is an avid photographer, which is why we love having his expertise in helping us run the contest. However, you can be sure that votes are tallied fairly. In fact, one of the reasons I routinely send out an alert like the one that went out today is to be sure that the whole community gets involved in voting so it doesn't turn into an "insider" contest where only certain people are voting. You can't ever fully stop people from voting for their friends (and we wouldn't want to do that anyway...the goal in our contests is to help build community and goodwill), but we try to be as fair as possible.

A note about the voting thread, since conversation on it is usually sparse it's a bear to find. Perhaps it and other community oriented (potm, totm, a recent article...) could be sticky on the home page.
