All jokes aside does garlic really stimulate fish’s appetites? I read so many threads where they say garlic doesn’t do anything and may cause problems, but some swear by it too. If it’ll be beneficial I’ll add a tad to my DIY mix.

I used garlic for the first time yesterday... Everything in the tank went full out feeding frenzy including the corals. Two drops of Seachem garlic on a cube of frozen Mysids in a 125...

I'd say yes.

Who's using the avast plank feeder? I'm looking for info on how to program it and such. I'm looking at buying one but I'm want all the info prior so I know what I'm getting into.

I won one in the contest they had this summer. I LOVE it.

So, there's not so much to know "programming" wise. Basically, you'll need 2 smart outlets, one for the feeder and one for the mixing pump. They have a calculation on how long to run the feeder to feed a certain amount of food, so you'd program the mixing pump outlet to come on, then the feeder outlet, then have the feeder outlet turn off after however long you want to it to run, then the mixing pump.

Since I only have 2 juvenile clowns eating it right now, I just have the mixing pump come on, then the autofeeder runs for only about a minute, then the autofeeder turns off and I have the mixing pump run for a minute more. I'm getting a KASA strip this weekend so that I can also have my return pump and wavemaker outlets turn off when all this is happening, too.

So, basically, the Plank is just on/off and any programming comes from whatever smart outlet and/or controller you plug it in to.

I run one, the thing is sweet! I use a 2-prong Kasa smart plug and setting schedules with that is a breeze..

Thanks though, that's what I was wondering on, when to have the mixing pump on. So in my application I have a dozen fish or so, so I'll be having mine run more than yours, but I like the simplicity of the kasa outlets. I was worried about figuring out how to add it to Apex, cuz that thing confuses me.

I'd assume you could use the smart outlets on your Apex to program it. That's my longer term plan once I get the smart outlets to work with my Hydros.

Yeah but this apex has nearly broken my simple brain several times. I think I'll go for the kasa outlets, at least at first.

Hopefully the hydros is simpler? Apex seems geared towards the tech group and it's hard for my simple self.
