Got my first eel guys! So excited. The lil bugger is so cute. It'll be exciting to watch it grow. So far I've got it in a temp tank on the counter, basically so I could make sure it's eating well before it goes into it's bigger tank.

Now I'll have to step on the gas and get it's tank ready. I'll be doing PVC pipe hides today. And also today I'll be ordering rock from TBS to get me started. Should be here Wednesday.

Currently the eel was eating live guppies at the store. They said it really tried to chow down on a frozen clam but couldn't, it's still pretty small. So I bought clams and krill for now and I'll increase my variety soon. I'll try clam first. Worst case I'll grab a few guppies but still offer the frozen first. It last ate Wednesday.

So far it's just hanging out poking it's little head from under the rocks.

I used a temp probe for size scale. Lil thing, isn't it?

Make sure there are ZERO openings in your lid, or you could end up with eel jerky.
Yummy, sounds delicious.

Yes, temp tank was chosen for it's plastic lid, and I've duct taped the holes shut.

It's actual tank will have a glass lid, easy because it's an aqueon tank. I do have to buy the lid, next time I'm in town.

Into the process of the usliverock people, I don't think they keep the pulled rock wet. I've watched all thier videos, and thoroughly read thier website, and it looks like they keep the fresh pulled live rock in baskets, then go to shore where they cure the rock in-house. That sounds like a lot of die off.

I'm looking to start a new system, I just evicted the freshwater fishies, and I wanted to try real live rock. I wanted the most I could afford. I don't think air cargo is for me, the closest pick up airport is 3 hrs one way. Plus it's a huge international busy AF place that I want no part of.

So the TBS treasure chest to my door option looks like what I'm doing. Only 8lbs at a time though. Is 8lbs enough to seed other dry rock?

Looking to house an eel in the tank.

@Lowell Lemon , do I remember you mentioning something about wholesale hookups a while ago? Do you have access to live rock at all? Maybe I'm wrong, it happens a lot.
You can get direct shipment flights from Florida to Lewiston via Delta. I have a Delta shipper account that is active if you need me to help. This would be from Tampa Bay Saltwater or someone similar in Florida or Southern California.

I don't know how good my connections are anymore since a lot of people have retired and moved on.

Spokane's air freight terminal will handle your big truck. Drive right up to the loading dock and pick up your shipment. It is on the East end before you get to the passenger terminal. You just drive right up with your air shipment information. Not hard at all. I used to get LC's (2000lbs) of rock from Florida and fish shipments from Florida and California. Even brought in Fiji from Walt Smith way back in the day.

What?? Lewiston will actually do this??!! YES! Good to know about Spokane, although, if Lewiston is an option I'd definitely prefer that.

Lewiston may have more plane changes. At least one in Salt Lake then on to Lewiston. The larger shipments of LC's have to come to Spokane.

I saw your DMV sloth post from earlier! lol one of my favorite parts of the movie.
