It really all depends on how bad the source water is.

Testing that 1st will let you know what you need.
We did test, I can't remember where we put the results.

Very hard. Lots of iron. Lots of silicates. Surprisingly enough some fluoride. That's all I remember off the top of my head.

Fluoride is common in drinking water systems. Some actually put it in the water, most already have it, and it's really only removed if it's over (or close to) the MCL (maximum contaminant level). There is some debate on whether or not fluoride should be in th drinking water since scientists have said no fluoride is bad for teeth, too much is bad for overall health

I was always told it was added because there was not enough or any in the water systems here. But there definitely is.

Cafe, are there different Duncan types?

Last order I got a new Duncan in. I have one other in this same tank that's different/normal. This one particular Duncan only opens at first light, closes all day, then opens again when lights ramp down.

The other Duncan behaves normally. Closed at night, opens during the day.

Is this night Duncan supposed to do that? Do I have a special one?

Lights just came on for this picture, it's beginning to close up for the day. Other Duncan to the left is still closed, will be opening soon.
