Guessing Carbon would help clear the leaching effect a bitIt visually leaches for the first couple of days.
Yeah but the pH spike is big. I made a couple of smallish rocks - 3 or 4 pounds - and a 5 gallon bucket went from 7.7 to 12.4 overnight the first 3 or 4 days. After that it went up to the mid 10s. It's a dangerous way to do it if you're trying to put it in the tank within a day or two.Guessing Carbon would help clear the leaching effect a bit
Well thats why it’s better we have chats like this to discuss if its best like that.Marco, NYOS, and AF say you can use it and put it in the tank after 24 hours of drying time to cure
I soak in freshwater for two to three weeks first, then soak in pre-phosphate spiked water change saltwater for a couple of days. I avoid the spike. @N1tew0lf1212 doesn't have the time to wait that long.Well thats why it’s better we have chats like this to discuss if its best like that.
How well did your corals react with the spike?
Yea i am gonna have to break down and use marco or nyos i am a gan of aquaforest but heard its a little hardto work with....nyos is a quick set so should help accomplish what i need but am going to have to go with dry rock for this and use what pieces will fit of the tank rock. from my research sounds like mortar and wet rock take forever to cure....and would cause some die off in the process.I soak in freshwater for two to three weeks first, then soak in pre-phosphate spiked water change saltwater for a couple of days. I have used nyos before, you have to work fast and mix small amounts when i did a scape for a friend. Thats what i found anywayYea i am gonna have to break down and use marco or nyos i am a gan of aquaforest but heard its a little hardto work with....nyos is a quick set so should help accomplish what i need but am going to have to go with dry rock for this and use what pieces will fit of the tank rock. from my research sounds like mortar and wet rock take forever to cure....and would cause some die off in the process.
Mine started grabbing phosphate and soaking it up. You have phosphate on hand if need be?So a lot of the tank rock will go sump bound for a few months....to help see the dry rock and will have to keep an eye on phos leach
Nope i sure dont will probably grab some. I just got a text from a local shop owner he has some pre built scapes he wants me to come look at tomorrow idk how i feel about this...but does have some awesome displays. I am sure they are pricey.Mine started grabbing phosphate and soaking it up. You have phosphate on hand if need be?
You want to add a plasticizer to the cement for increased durability I think. I forgot which one I thought about getting before just going with the one you're avoiding.@tbrown so hydraulic cement correct....if you find the tile grout mix i would like to give it a go....seen a few good things but also the spike of ph concerns me im at 8.3-8.5 currently....
So you used aquaforest? What did you think of it.You want to add a plasticizer to the cement for increased durability I think. I forgot which one I thought about getting before just going with the one you're avoiding.
eMarco-400. I really liked it. Did CA and eMarco. I'd use the CA to hold the rock in place so the eMarco could dry. I'd do one layer at a time.So you used aquaforest? What did you think of it.
If it’s anything like TSA then I’m gueesing it’s $300 or $400 or more,I am sure they are pricey.
