They also told us initially we'd receive communication on any delays in supply chain, etc so that we'd know what was going on "every step of the way". We've heard nothing until now and they're acting like everything has been delayed and how dare we ask if there's an update on anything. We get communication on other builds all the time asking to meet for x or y or to confirm change orders that aren't ours. Personally, it feels like they're too disorganized to even expect things to move smoothly.
I hear yeah. It’s tough for sure. Honestly I think our company is one of the very few that stick so closely to the contracted time. We estimate 7 to 8 months from the time we start digging the basement and in the 10 years I’ve worked here I think we have only gone over once because it was super custom fancy house. I hear stories like yours all the time. It’s definitely frustrating. Building houses is high stress for sure. And lack of communication makes it 10 times worse.

On the West coast yes. I get weekly updates on my Sis house in Martin County. County code there has a ton of protections for the buyers and slams the builders if they do not follow them.

When I had a house built years back on the west coast, it was a pain then. And that was without supply chain issues.
Now that we're dealing with all these communication issues and stuff with them, we retrospectively can see some red flags we should have noticed in the beginning that we chalked up to "oops, they just misunderstood" or "oh, simple mistake" etc. Now we realize they were likely signs of what to expect.

At this rate there are going to be serious problems if they run hvac and electric and keep taking their sweet time. This area of FL is notorious for people coming in and stripping copper from the wires in incomplete houses. There was a subdivision going up not far from us that had houses stripped over and over due to how long they were taking - they also had appliances stolen multiple times.

The question of the week. We signed with builders April '22. They quoted us May23 to Sept23. We reached out to see if they have an updated timeline since plumbing is for sure done and we already met with electric about everything so HVAC & electric should be soon (in theory). After that inspection, it's drywall and then all the interior bs. Essentially, when should we start getting **** together on our end....

Their response was "we might hit Sept, it might take longer"
We bought a couch and we're quoted sometime next year. Lololol. We have it now but that was hilarious to us

We always used to joke about contractors being on Georgia time. Sounds like Florida time is even worse.
Yeah but there is nothing like Tulsa time!

I am not sure where this was recorded but I saw EC in ‘85 at the Rosemont Horizon and he did, in fact, play this song as part of his set. Or maybe it was all a hallucination. I’m not exactly sure.

I argued for gargoyles and grotesques. They will have to be a later addition

My heart goes out to you and your husband, @danieyella ! Building a house under what were once “normal” conditions could quickly get frustrating and very stressful but it seems, as of late, there is no accountability on anyone’s behalf anymore. A lot of finger pointing and playing the blame game. However, there is some truth in the idea that not all builders/contractors are lying scumbags. Unfortunately, it sounds like yours is not one of them.

Appreciate it, we are at least halfway there. We will survive. Husband is back to thinking we might just rent our current house out instead of selling, if we go that route it's a lot less stress during transition. Houses half the size in our neighborhood are going for 2500 rent a month.

Its not like there are fewer people in this country year after year... good idea.

Jury duty today. report at 830. 905 get word that the defendant is opting to forgo the jury. No longer needed. Not a bad time, not sure why people try to avoid this.
They saw your name in the jury pool and decided not to press their luck! Win win in my book.
