To funny, for month now i've been fighting low nutrients. Finally started dosing NeoPros and Nitrates and for that, I get cyano!!

SoK though, 4 day weekend for me starting tomorrow so gonna put the smack down on these tanks and get stuff back in shape!

I dont think low nutrients are necessarily a bad thing for new tanks especially in dry rock starts. I have a running theory that low to detectable may be better as biofilms grow, get strong and cover surfaces in break in period. Key is low to detectable. As tank matures and surfaces cover it will be able to handle more for you naturally.
Sorry to see this. Id siphon it out best you can and try to keep the balance.
Whats your levels right now? Def through something out of wack id personally shoot for what you where doing before. Let it naturally break in.

Yeah I got Phos to high. Was .01 and Nitrates 0, now its Phos .07 and Nitrates 5 as of last night. Going to do a water change after pulling out what cyano i can siphon here in the next day or two.

So those aren't bad numbers at all. Id start with good clean up. Could very well just be a shock with nutrient levels changing too fast. Id siphon it out and see what it does personally. May jist take a little time to catch back up now!

Haha no problem man. At end of the day its guess work and I'm probably 1000% wrong. Id imagine the cyano loved the imbalance that occurred with dosing though. Either that or there was an abundance of it present and dosing nitrates set it off because surfaces aren't covered with right stuff to compete yet.. Im going through it now battling dinos in tank 2. Nitrates where kool aid color forever with phosphates bottoming out everyday. Stripping Nitrates, dosing Phosphates and cleaning it up every chance I get. Starting to come around finally.

Been fighting GHA and the only thing I could find wrong was low nutrients so I went there. Always something I guess!
