Hello,
After months of slowly emptying my tank of life, cleaning and disinfecting, I ran the RO tube to the tank and turned it on last evening. Its 1/5th filled this morning. I'll be testing the overflow for and sumps for leaks while it fills and the rock is still in its bleach. I have 8 bags of special grade 1-2mm Caribsea live sand. I care more about the size than the life of the sand. It was the only choice for that size in the country. I will give it a properly gentle rinsing as my last experience with not rinsing live sand was three weeks of cleaning mud out of the entire tank filtration system.
Anyway, I'm already caught up in how to control nitrates and this and that and solving problems before the tank has even filled 1/5th with water. I am in no hurry to stock the tank. Its going to cycle until I see coraline taking root. I need to slow my mind and approach the maturation process correctly and perhaps I will not have the problems I had before.
Its really OCD. Calm Mark, calm! Stop solving problems that I don't have and enjoy myself. Its like yesterday. I drove 140 kilometers to replace my RO membrane and then I found out it was three feet of blocked drain tube of which I have a lifetime supply. Overthinking everything and forgetting the basics has been a long habit. Learn man, learn. How am I going to feed my Anthias? Wait, I don't have any Anthias. They are not even in my plan.
And everything I read concerning other's problems becomes a concern for me via psychological means. Its a brain fire. I can slow my thoughts with medication which really helps but its quite addictive. Still, it helps me be really useful and live a productive life. It maybe the result of two concussions showing their effect over many years.
