Looks awesome im getting ready to build one also only mine has a corner overflow. You should put your heater either in the overflow box or down in your sump. Mone has the extra return bulk head also and thats where my heater went. Keeps it out of site.. [emoji16]

I kept it in the tank because it won't fit in my sump properly :-( doesn't bother me too much, but I do plan on getting two neotherms instead in the near future. I just wish I could figure out this pooling of water on my sump... ugh!

The system is looking good so far! Other than kissing the front glass, I _love_ that scape. Just the right amount of otherworldliness to it - and let's face it - you'll add height with corals later!

~Bruce, whose heater is also too long for his sump

Not if u didn't glue it and a picture would help me out to understand what's leaking

Good point lol I didn't glue it to the sump. The foam on the right is gone. The water is coming up between the black bulkhead and red pvc.

And it's about 1" into the bulkhead tight. It actually doesn't leak enough to drip anywhere, just about a half ounce sits there.

Lol this is funny because I have same sump and same problem I don't glue that 1" pipe to bulkhead but is tight and still have smaller leak between pipe and bulkhead [emoji35]

Well I don't have that sump but u could try pipe dopeing it instead of using glue to stop it. Or change out to a threaded bulkhead

It's not too bi a deal but it's frustrating! I am thinking I should shorten the internal white pvc a little so there's not as much backup but I'm afraid of doing too much. Very frustrating! Glad I'm not the only one. Otherwise I love the sump

I just filled that tank yesterday, hoping to resolve this leaking problem this weekend, let me know if you find out some easy solution I don't want to use glue. Thx

Absolutely will do. Mines been up a week. I'm going to LFS tomorrow and see what he thinks . I'm hoping there's a good pliable putty that is easily removable that I can use since it's not a high pressure line.

Enjoying your build thread so far. I'm getting ready to switch to a slightly larger tank. Curious if you have a ball valve on your return. You may be able to dial the return back a bit to prevent the backup in the drain. What does your overflow plumbing look like? Is it a durso with a small hole drilled into the elbow? I had to make the hole a little bigger in mine to allow a little more air in.

Thanks!! I have a durso standard drain. I didn't do a ball valve, I may in the future but I didn't want anything that could increase risk of blockage since I don't have an emergency drain. It's a straight pvc to the sump with a single union. I'm eventually going to redo the plumbing but since it was my first, I figured I'd be simple. I have 3 holes drilled in the side of the durso and one on top. Came hat way and seems to be perfect. Part of my problem though as that once the pvc is straight down, it comes down very powerful and makes lots of bubbles. That has gone down with some carbon though. I figured I'd keep my overflow around 4x the volume and I have two sicce voyager twos with wavemaker coming today for tank flow. I

Sorry, I may not have been clear. A ball valve on the return pump side. I think a slight reduction in the volume coming from the Mag 7 could calm the drain down a bit. You may already have this valve, just checking.

I believe he does have a short piece of white pvc on the other side of the drain bulkhead on the sump. Not sure from the pic, but it does look like there is one there.

Yeah it does down probably another 6" into the sump. I do not have a valve on return side. That's a good idea.
