Preplanning for new fish:
Fish arriving Thursday-
-1 foxface rabbitfish
-1 copperband butterfly
-2 snowflake clownfish
-1 flame angelfish
Fish are going into 2 cycled QT tanks
Have frozen brine and mysis for the regular eaters. Green nori for the foxface.
Now for the copperband, I have bloodworms, live black worms, and will be picking up clams. Hoping one of these will get him eating!

I plan on letting fish settle and feeding before I introduce copper (especially the copperband)

have Hannah copper test kit on hand
API saltwater test kit (any other suggestions??)

Using RO/DI water from BRS 5 stage plus system.
Instant ocean salt.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for these guys? Mostly worried about getting the copperband eating. Going to also try to get him to eat out of a turkey baster overtime. Anything else to look out for? TIA I hope you guys enjoy this build :)

Update #3- everyone is in QT and seems to be relatively active (considering what they went through) dropped in a bit of frozen mysis and copperband was actually the first one to eat a couple pieces!

Looks like a good start! Assuming you're in PA, how is the reefing community up there? Any good spots to check out, FB groups to join? We're thinking of moving back (outside Harrisburg but within 30 mins) in the next few months and I have a 100-gallon mixed reef I'll be moving up there with us. I grew up in the area but never was into reefing when I lived there so any insight would be awesome.

Seems like there is a lot of groups and stuff around here and there’s a pretty big pet store in Lancaster if you’re familiar, huge Saltwater section. in terms of specifics, I haven’t got into any groups yet because my tank is not old enough to have any reef stuff in it yet, shortly tho! Ill
Keep you

Awesome! Yeah, I'm familiar with that spot. I only ever went during covid simply because it was one of the only places that was open in PA (aside from grocery stores). Also, I just found out that both Saltwateraquarium.com and Neptune/AI/Ecotech are all based in PA (Gettysburg and Bethlehem respectively) which is neat. Definitely let me know if you find anything good though! If I move up there, we'll have to swap some frags and stuff. Always looking for more people in the hobby to trade and buy from/with.

Update #6-
Dosed the final coppersafe dose last night, did 4 doses over 48 hours due to the flame angel being sensitive and the and the clowns being so small. So far, everyone seems happy and active. Have not seen the clownfish eat yet, but makes me wonder if they are grazing off of anything left over once I walk away because they’re still super active. I would imagine by now since they’re so small they would show symptoms, but, I’ve never delt with this before. Rocks and water will be going in the DT this week, will post pictures when done

With regards to the Copperband, its good that it is eating thats step 1. But the mysis shrimp is very low on nutrition so get ready to feed that clam soon. If he does not eat the clam straight away then observe from a distance but don't leave the clam in there to long. If he does not want it pull it and try again the next day. Let him get a little hungry, also try not to disturb the fish without any specific reason. If you don't have to be in his face then don't. Rather let him calmly get used to everything. If you do things right you will have plenty of time to gaze at him in your display tank. You can easily cause the Copperband to stop eating by fussing over it to much, they are that sensitive in the beginning of a new phase

The foxface pic, that is their reaction to stress. It actually takes a fair amount to get a fox face to that level of stress.

How old is your display tank ?

Well done on choosing to the QT the fish thoroughly, the hobby would be very different if everyone did this.

Forgot to update on feeding the CB, he is eating clam now as well. I do leave them alone and or leave the tank covered if I notice they are stressed out.

for the foxface, I just turned the lights on and was putting nori on the clip for him, as soon as I walked away he went back to normal.

DT is 3 mo old, will be 6 mo by the time I add these guys in there

Yeah unfortunately I didn’t QT when I first got into this, got ich and wiped out most of my fish. Had to learn the hard way :/

Sounds like you have a solid CBB there.
