Back again with a new question:

I ordered a mushroom coral on Sunday. With the holiday, it shipped Tuesday & was received today (Thursday). Upon arrival, it was slimey in its cup, which is to be expected after being in a cup for 36ish hours.
That being said, I acclimated to temp, salinity and full water exchange in its cup over the course of 2 hours. It's still sliding, but it now (may have had it from the start & I just didn't see it) a brown slime coming from its mouth.

I know some slime is normal from transport. Is this amount normal? Is the brown normal? Should I be concerned? & could it crash my tank?
There's so much conflicting information on these & I trust r2r more than any other forum.

TIA!

Video is in tank. Photos were while still in cup. 20240905_112754.jpg 20240905_112827.jpg

That doesnt look great, i wouldve sent a picture to the person you ordered from and ask for store credit. I would also take it out of the tank it looks like its in the middle of melting. Maybe someone else will be able to give more a detailed explaination to what is happening to the mushroom. @Jay Hemdal @vetteguy53081

Looks like the water itself may have been fouled but ive seen this also and the mushroom bounce right back. Give it gentle burst with turkey baster to get any slime off of it and place in area of moderate light and flow

I moved it to the sand bed so it was down wind from everything else & to make sure the slime stayed low as it came off. I just kinda let the water flow do its thing & it's already looking a bit better, but I've never had mushrooms before so I'm not 100% on their behavior.
I've had my blue lights on, just turned the white up to take the pic. Would you leave the lights normal or would it be better to keep it under low lighting for now?

@NonstopSoda I did make sure to take plenty of pictures before I took it out of the cup, just in case. The water in the specimen cup was very cloudy. I ordered it from Riptide Aquaculture. Everything else that came in is good, the mushroom was the only questionable one.

it does look to be in decent shape in terms of the flesh, it does look like it spit out most of its zooxanthellae hench the white colored flesh. Mushrooms are very hardy and now seeing it without all the slime and spitting out zoox,it should be able to bounce back, I would keep it in low flow and just keep an eye on it

Just came back for an update. It completely sloughed off of the frag by the end of the next day. Luckily I took pictures upon arrival & as it progressed. I sent them to Riptide & am just waiting on an email back.
I did find the part that had come off laying in the sand bed at the back of the tank.
I set it in a small crevice in a rock & it's stayed there's. It's begun to glow under blue lights again l, so I'm thinking it didn't completely die, just slimed enough that it looked like it had and basically melted itself off the rock. However, as I said before, I've never had mushrooms before so idk their behavior.
