I just moved to maryville from Oregon and am in the process of planning a rebuild of the reef. We are now in an apartment for the next 12 months while we get settled so space is a little tighter than we are used to having. My wife has a spot picked out for the tank but it doesn't leave a lot of room for filtration (none, actually). I've always run hob gear since I downsized due to ease of use and fairly low bio loads but in the new spot I am thinking about a canister filter. That said, I have a CPR hob fuge with a pump that's 24" wide that I would trade for a good canister filter if you have one laying around. Cheers and happy reefing!

Welcome to the area! Not quite Oregon but nice people and lots to do if you like the outdoors. Unfortunately I don't have a canister but I suspect others in the club might. Check out a meeting sometime once you get settled.

Thanks Dave! I actually grew up in sevierville so this is a homecoming of sorts for me. I'd love to join a meeting and meet other reefers in the area. I found the aquarium on papermill today. Any other stores I should check out?

I would avoid a canister if at all possible. What size tank are you using? I'm with Rob.D......is there any way you can use the CPR as a "sump"?

Unless I drill my tank (on the bottom only which is tempered glass, so no), there is no sump possible. The tank is going to tucked in to a real tight (but out of the way) spot with no way to use hob options or rear plumbing
