I would recommend NYOS salt every time. Reliable, clean, and comes in buckets and bags. Also along with my 7 stage RODI unit of course.

Sounds like a good idea. Have you done it yourself and where did you get the dessicant from.

Good luck on general consensus on salt. Recently I’ve been finding Aquaforest at good discounts. During these sales on BRS and S.com, it’s less expensive than IO.

Fritz RPM. It mixes at 8.5 Alk which is where I keep the tank. I can change ad much water as I want without shocking it.

I mix it in the bucket and it's clear within a hour

What is the consensus on Fritz RPM in general? My 20g Cube was using RODI salt mix from our LFS, and it was great. Got a 120g Planet last week and decided to invest in an RODI and do our own mix. I've noticed that Alk sits around 8-8.25, calc sits around 300, and Mag sits around 1100.

On the 20g Cube from the LFS, Alk has always been 9.5, Calc in the 400s, and Mag around 1300.

Not sure if this difference is due to us using Fritz RPM or just new tank.

Everyone will have an opinion. As mentioned previously find one with parameters you like and is within your budget. I've tried several, but always seem to go back to reef crystals.
This. I have been using Reef crystals since the '90s. I've tried others. They don't make a difference. I go back.
