Weekend maintenance. Every weekend I dedicate 1 to 2 hours to my tank. This is when I do my bigger weekly water change. I change 25 gallons of water out of my tank. It's getting a little colder these months so I have to make sure that the water is the same temperature going in as it was coming out.

How do you like the spread with only having the two AI's?
Do you get much shadowing?
Do you have any SPS?

I'm starting up the same tank and been looking a running two 32's over it.

Tank looks awesome though!

I believe the spread of these lights is more than enough. I don't get much shadowing at all to tell you the truth I did put a par meter on it and all the numbers actually blew me away with how powerful they could be. I do have a few pieces of SPS some birds nest some purple rainbow acro. They seem to be doing fine with the lights. I haven't had much luck with SPS though just because of other things going wrong a temperature swing here or there wipes them out

Good to know!! Thanks for the reply. I'm debating on the AI 32hd or the radion XR 15's.

The biggest problem that I have with the AI is that they are not water resistant or waterproof in any way. If they get wet or condensation builds up it'll short out the board and that is not covered under warranty. They have no type of water resistance whatsoever whereas the radeon's do

Hello and how is everybody today. My tank is 120 gallon with a 40 gallon sump so 160 total my alkalinity has always been high about 11.5. my salinity is 34.8 PPT. My calcium has been a little bit high or right around the Mark at 4:50. I do two part dosing. The problem that I have always had though is I've always been trying to chase the pH my pH has normally always been at 7.8. unless I add buffer to my system that'll bring up the pH but it also raised me out. So today I am switching over to kalkwasser to try to figure this all out

So since my pH is normally low and I would like to get it up to 8.3 I decided to slowly add the cows washer until my pH was at where I wanted it to be at and then I was going to check my parameters. Now I know this is a little backwards from doing things but I wanted to just do it slowly and keep checking things. Everything in the tank still looks absolutely amazing

So using the kalkwasser over a day I brought the ph up to 8.28 and then I checked my other parameters. My calcium did raise 30 points. When I first started it was at 4:20 and it did go up to 450. My magnesium started at 1290 and went up to 1350. My alk did raise so I'm still concerned it went from 11.5 to 13 now there is a very high alkalinity in the tank so I will monitor and report back

Using the kalkwasserr is a bust for me as well. To get my pH up to where I want it my alkalinity ends up being 14.5 which is just way too high. So now I'm using a different approach. I switched over and upgraded to the expensive salt tropic Marin. I have read that the base alkalinity of that is between 7 and 8. So my thoughts are if I could switch over to that salt and put in a base alk of seven to eight it'll bring my alk down then with the additives that I do add it'll bring the alk back up to where I want it at at about 10.5 11 at the highest and then my pH should follow to be continued
