Hi again!

Since my Reefer 250 had an equipment malfunction which led to major tank crash I decided I wanted to get back to an AIO tank, and this will be my new build thread.

I really wanted to stick with a 36" tank and looked all over for a C-Vue 40 and SR-60. Finally gave up hope and settled on new Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 30L. One of my local Club Members had just bought it new and hadn't set it up yet. He really wanted a Reefer 250 and we worked out a trade that helped us both out.

Equipment will consist of the following:
APS stand (customized of coarse)
Stock IM return Pump
2-Spin Streams(on order)
IM Reactor
IM Skimmer
2-AI Primes with the all metal mount(probably going to swap for the 12" flex arms later)
Finnex HMA-200 Titanium Heater
Smart ATO
Smart temp safety sensor
Smart level safety sensor
Media Baskets(eventually)

The main thing I'm undecided on at the moment is the power heads. I'm debating between Nero 5 and Tunze 6040. The Nero seems a bit over kill but the control and integration with the same app as the lights is a nice feature. Any suggestions or advise on these two pumps?

Here is the tank when I first brought it home. My wife and if were not digging the stand as much as we thought. It just did not go with the interior of the house.

So after a lot of work this is the color I came up with:

Stand New.jpg

I am making a stained wooden top for it today that will hopefully give it that little extra dimension and color I am looking for.

The APS Shelf kit came in last night from BRS! Thank to UPS and their extreme care in the handling process, the mounts for inside the stand did not make it with the rest of the package. I am guessing thy managed to fall out of the hole ripped into the top of the box. Sorry for any UPS fans out there but out of the last few years I have only had 1 package delivered by them that was not damaged, delivered to the wrong address, or went missing entirely.

Stay tuned, this will be a busy weekend for this tank hopefully.

Looks good! I just bought and started a 30L as well. I am planning to go more SPS I think.

Wow. Looking clean! I am considering picking up one of these tanks too.

What are your fish stocking plans?

Thanks!

As far as fish I am keeping my 3 survivors for "the incident". These are gold nugget maroon, purple fire fish and fire shrimp. I know the clown will eventually need to go but I got him when I had the Reefer 250, which was plenty of room but I'm fairly sure he will eventually become to aggressive in this small of a tank. We will see and I'll let him hang out until he becomes a problem.

I also added a Swalesi Basslet that I got a smokin deal on from my LFS. He has been in their Reefer 170 display for about 2 years and they finally took it down so I was able to score him for $30!!!. I always liked him in that little display and they don't show up in the LFS around here very often so i had to seize that opportunity.

I don't know that I will add any other fish, if I do they will be very small, sapphire damsel, Tail spot blenny or a goby of some sort maybe?

I got the shelf and Spin Streams installed Friday evening. Not a fan of the spin streams, even with an upgraded pump they just don't give the flow I was looking for. I think the issue is the depth front to back. I have seen the spin streams used on the 45 cube tanks and they provided really nice random flow but in this tank its seems like there just isn't enough depth for it to make a difference. I was really hoping the spin streams and upgraded pump would be enough to skip a power head in the tank but the stock pump and regular nozzles is a much better flow pattern.

Any suggestions on power heads? I am thinking Tunze 6040 on the back wall so its isn't to intrusive.

Seems like a good crew to start with. I'm downgrading after a tank wipe out as well. Your thread inspired me and I just picked up the same tank second hand. Just waiting on a fresh auto leveling mat now.

Good to know about the spin streams, I'll skip out on them.

For flow I was considering putting an Icecap 1k in there but I'm not sure.

The ice caps are great pumps. I ran 2 on the back wall of my reefer 250 and flow was great. I don't think the back wall would work on these tanks. It would just a dig sand. I'm trying to avoid anything on the sides so I'm really leaning toward the tunze. If something goes on the side I will probably go mp10.

The Tunze seems like it will be very discrete and allow for that clean look. I think I am actually just going to pick up a mp10 and side mount it.

Just over 1 week since the change over. I got the InTank floss holders in today and they are a perfect fit.
Still need to figure out cord management and get my doser but the cabinet is shaping up.

This is the left rock structure.

Nice. Are you running media bags under the floss holders or is it just empty space?

I will be running the media bags under the floss holders. Since I had the bags I figured I would do that instead of the media baskets and save a little $.
I was thinking the same thing. Are you running carbon then? What else?

I am going to try some seachem matrix in one of my compartments I think to aid in biological filtration. Trying to have minimal rock in the tank.

I am running Chemi-pure blue in the reactor, pond matrix in the bags and bonded floss in the trays with a 100 micron floss under it. I may ditch the 100 micron after a while though. It clogs really fast.

I like it.

How is the stock return pump? Is it loud? I am considering upgrading but don't have my tank set up yet.

No it's pretty silent. The flow with the stock nozzles and return alone is really good. There's actually not a spot I don't see the corals moving but I would like a little extra and more random flow from a power head.

When you had the spin streams on the return, were those loud? I just added two today and immediately noticed how loud they were.
