Nice setup! Was looking at upgrading my 40 breeder to the 50 cus of the same foot print.that extra 2in up top makes the tank look a hell if a lot bigger then the 40.anyways,the tank is looking nice man.

A recent got this beautiful pectinia from @Queen City Corals
IMG_0826.jpeg

And some super cheap neon green staghorn frags from Nemo’s reef. Funny, the big colony these came off were NFS but once I asked, they happily sold me these two broken off tips for $10.

I did a 15g water change today. Post WC parameters are as follows.

SG - 1.025
PH - 8.3
PO4 - .03
NO3 - 2.7
ALK - 8.9
MAG - 1470
CAL - 470

I dialed back the AFR from 9ml/day to 7ml/day until alk mag and cal get back in line, should only take a few days. Shooting for alk - 8.5, mag - 1450 and cal - 450. I manually scrubbed GHA and bubble algae from frag plugs and easy to get to rocks. Hoping the new additions of blue legged hermits and pencil urchin can keep up with it.

I got to pick up my tomini tang today from @Queen City Corals . He was finished with his 8 week quarantine and ready for his new home. He seems happy to have friends.
IMG_1793.jpeg

He has settled on the cave on the right side of my tank.
IMG_1794.jpeg

I also picked up some zoas because why not. Got Valentine’s Day massacre (vdm) and JF stargazers. The stargazers have a random other kind on the plug as well. Anyone have any ideas as to what it is? Looks a lot like candy apple red possibly?

Mr tomini seems to have happily settled into his duties as algae destroyer.
IMG_1780.jpeg
IMG_1861.jpeg

I had to rescue a stuck pencil urchin in the Milka forest. Popped off the left one, moved him and reglued the stylo back.
IMG_1914.jpeg

Also switched to BRS rox activated carbon and added a wave maker to stir up the detritus that builds up under the gyre.
I backed off the A4R for one week. I lowered the dose down from 9ml/day to 7ml/day for one week to let slightly elevated magnesium and calcium drop back where I want them. Now I’m pretty much back where I want to be and AFR is back to 9ml/day.

Parameters
SG-1.025
PH-8.3
PO4-.05
NO3-3.5
ALK-8.3
Mag-1420
Cal-440

Today was maintenance day. Did a 15 gallon water change and siphoned a little bit of the sand. With the addition of the tomini tang I feel like I’m beating the hair algae. I’m still picking bubble algae everyday, it’s everywhere.

Keeping in mind that coral is definitely not my strong point at the moment and I may be embarrassingly off - I'd say this one looks like either a Dragon Soul or a Court Jester Platygyra (I'm leaning toward Dragon Soul).

Starry or Northern Lights?

Lombre Playtgyra.
Thank you!

Got a sweet new upgrade to my carbon reactor thanks to @IOAOI . Got one of their bottom suction pumps to replace the little sicce that was starting to make my whole sump hum.
