Hey everyone! This is my first post here, and I'm excited to dive into the community. I’m setting up a new tank and thought it was time to get more involved.

Currently, I’ve got a 38-gallon Fiji Peninsula, but it’s a bit of a mess. After a power outage last year caused a crash, I never quite got the tank back to where I wanted it.

I caught the upgrade bug and spent a month searching for something bigger. I finally found an Eshopps Mariner 70 at a local store, and it blew me away with its quality compared to other tanks I’ve seen. I went ahead and ordered it after chatting with the store, so now I’m just waiting for it to arrive.

I've also ordered all the equipment and am aiming to do things right this time around. Here’s what I’ve got lined up:

Return Pump: Simplicity DC 1600

Heater: Eheim Jager x2 (temporary until I swap in an IM Helios after breaking down the old tank)

Skimmer: Simplicity 240 DC

Flow: Icecap Gyre 2k x2 with the Hydros Wave Engine LE

Control: Hydros X4

ATO: Hydros ATO Kit

Lighting: Reefi Uno 2.0 Pro x2

Sand: Special Grade Aragalive

Rock: Tropic Eden Morroca

Can’t wait for the challenge and adventure of my biggest tank setup yet. Looking forward to sharing the journey along the way.

Needed to order more moldable rock to finish attaching it all together. Plan on making a few more adjustments before I am fully happy with it.

Alright aquascape is done and attached together in segments. The Tropic Eden Morocca Rock turned out pretty sweet. Snagged it from @premiumaquatics. By far the best man made rock I have used in a build so far. It was easy to create shapes with it and has so many nooks and holes for fish to make a home out of.

Got the tank delivered and leveled on Wednesday. Filled it with what water I had. Did most of the hydros and tank wiring for things. Not perfect but clean enough for now. Still need to go through and label all the cables.

IMG_2694.jpeg

Finished filling it on Thursday. Leak tested. Had a bulkhead I needed to tighten some more. Have a small drip from one of the pre assembled drain pipe assemblies, but it drops into the sump and its pretty small. I will deal with this later. Added the salt and mixed it in the tank. Put the rock and live sand in. Put the Ice Cap Bio Balls I had cycling from a few days before in. I had them cycling in a bucket with a bottle of @Fauna Marin Pro Bac. I also added two more bottles to the tank. I let it clear overnight.

Friday since it was clear enough I fixed the aquascape placement. Attached the arch rocks where I wanted them while in the tank.
I rehoused my two clownfish into here and haven't detected any ammonia. I think this is because I cycled the media ahead of time and also used live sand. They are doing just peachy.
IMG_2696.jpeg

Saturday added the UV. This was something that always just seemed intimidating to me. But in my mind it was definitely something I wanted on this build. It ended up not being too bad. I orignally planned on putting it above the sump but it was a little bigger than I expected and wouldnt fit here. I tried going on the back of the stand but I was about 1" too close to the wall to drill screws in to place it here. So into the dry compartment it went. Little bit of mixed emotions about it going here, but I am going to add a hydros leak sensor here to shut it down if anything happens. ATO container was always going to go outside of the stand so I could use this compartment for hydros things and dosing containers. So still enough room left for those.
IMG_2703.jpeg

Now I am just waitnig for a few things to finish up. ATO container being one of them. The others being my lid from @Kraken Reef, my dosing container, and my light and tank mounts for that one and the one I already own. Hopefully will all arrive sometime this next week.

Once I get the lights I will move what few corals I have from my old tank over. And once the lid is here I will move the wrasse and dartfish over.

The Mariner 100 is so beautiful.
