Alright, today I recived a package containing two 4” filter media cups made by rimmer & rimmer machine shop.

First impressions were “WOW” these are well made. They used thick bpa free polypropylene and are very nice. On Marinedepot’s site ( where I ordered these from) it said it will fit a GEO series sump. They don’t,so I came up with this idea.

I grabbed two unused felt 4” socks and removed the felt. Then trimmed the plastic back on the rings. Slid the up the cups, and presto they work awesome!!

Had a few min tonight to start playing around with some wire management ideas. I think I found a solution I feel happy with.

These are silicone desk wire management clips I found on eBay. They seem to do the job and keep everything tidy

Here is a quick video of where everything stands as of this morning. I got my UPS tracking no. Today for my new ATI t5 bulbs, and kessils. So updates on that are to follow shortly. The only thing holding me back now is, the tanks top woodwork. :( as soon as that’s back, I can epoxy it all up and this thing is getting filled !!

Hey Mapes, looks amazing bro! Very clean and very sleek! If I can lend my experience with the DB 80 Edge for a moment, slight problem I think you may run in to. No Big deal though. You’ll notice that if you use the stock overflow height you will get an extreme waterfall sound, you may want to lift your drain pipe to shorten the distance between water in the DT to water in the overflow chamber. It makes a world of difference and my tank is virtually silent, however the standpipe now sits above the rim of the tank, which is where I think your custom cover may be compromised. However, it’s nothing a hole saw couldn’t take care of! Very nice build, and Maple Reef sounds delicious!

Thank you so much for that tip. I specifically installed slip bulkheads on the overflow side for this exact reason. In truth I have no idea what this will sound like, and I’m thinking u have confirmed my thoughts on noise, the overflow will make. I’ll have to play around with heights, and thank you for the tip. Ya I may just drill a two inch hole through the top of the overflow cover, sand and re epoxy seal it. Much appreciated !

Seeing you and how much excitement you have for your Kessils is making me really think of getting a pair of 360We’s

I’ve had Ecotech radions Gen 3’s and though they were nice and the controllability was cool........but I much prefer the simplicity of the kessils, no need for reef link and the shimmer is incredible.

So I just installed them really quick, to try it all out. Over the next day or two I’ll tidy up all the wiring, and daisy chain the two into my Kessil spectral controller. Still waiting on the stands wood work. Aperently my good friend who’s doing the work, is backed up with other projects at the moment. So I’m patiently waiting.

Also was happy to receive a bottle of Dr.Tim’s “One & Only” for reef tanks. I’ve used this in the past and have had a cycle kick of in 7 days if not sooner. Great stuff.
